Meriden CT – May 8, 2003 | The national Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced the appointment of Mory Katz to its Board of Directors. Mr. Katz is chairman and chief executive officer of the national direct-to-the-consumer Response Insurance.
The influential safety organization is best known to the public for conducting crash tests to rate vehicles, researching traffic safety and driver behavior, and for their famous Crash Test Dummies.
“I'm looking forward to working with my colleagues and fellow Board members to further our goals in advancing highway safety,” said Mr. Katz. "Reducing losses on our highways and saving lives is something important to all of us, and I welcome the opportunity to help lead that effort."
Mr. Katz was elected to a three-year term ending December 31, 2005.
Response Insurance is a direct-to-the-consumer auto insurer that gained notoriety in 1999 when it released its National Driving Habits Survey calling public attention to the issue of driving distractions. The company was formed in 1996 and includes Response Insurance, Connecticut Life & Casualty, and their educator-specific program, Teachers' Insurance Plan. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a nonprofit research and communications organization funded by auto insurers. For over 30 years the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has been a leader in finding out what works and doesn't work to prevent motor vehicle crashes in the first place and reduce injuries in the crashes that still occur. The IIHS is headquartered in Arlington VA.
